Case Studies: GavHuck.co.uk
GavHuck.co.uk showcases the work and skills of an up and coming sound engineer and musician living in Plymouth, UK. Visitors can listen to compositions produced by Gavin Huck through an online MP3 player or directly download the individual tracks.
Gavin wanted an online presence to promote his work but had decided that a free web site solution such as the popular MySpace would not portray the professional image he needed. Gavin was a friend of the Web Embrace team so we were only too pleased to help him promote his work and services.

Project brief
The site had to promote Gavin's composition and sound engineering skills. It had to have a contempory and professional look and feel, rather than the 'home-made' amateur quality of many musician's sites.
The site was aimed primarily at potential employers so the content had to reflect the information that they would wish to find out about Gavin. The site had a secondary audience of fellow musicians and engineers that was also important to Gavin so the site had to include information that they may find interesting. Lastly, the site had to promote the services that Gavin could offer such as mixing and production because collaborating with other artists provides a good way of building up contacts and experience.
Design process
We discussed with Gavin what he wanted to achieve and who his audience should be. We also provided Gavin with information regarding various web hosting options, from free hosting to more advanced solutions, and recommended a low cost solution that met his budget. A design was produced by Web Embrace and the site structure was decided by Gavin.
Whilst Web Embrace built the site, Gavin converted the compositions he wanted to promote to MP3 format and produced the written content.
The final result
One of Gavin's aims was to gain experience of working in other studios and to become involved with new media / multi-media projects. Since the site has gone live, Gavin has been able to promote his site and has gained work in Macedonia, where he hopes to return to continue recording and producing.
Some of Gavin's work has now been used by the BBC in a documentary on racism. Gavin has recently finished producing an album that will be launched later in 2008 and we are looking forward to working with Gavin to promote its release on his web site.
